FIRE ALARM SYSTEM PLAN REVIEW MEMORANDUM

This plans examiner is in receipt of the set of plans and specification documentation for the above-
referenced proposal from your office for a replacement fire alarm system.
The above-referenced proposal was reviewed by this plans examiner for compliance with the
International Fire Code [I.F.C.], 2012 Edition with Washington State Amendments, and N.F.P.A. 72,
2013 Edition. The following constitutes this plans examiner findings and determinations based upon the
plans of record submitted.
Findings,Determinations,and Code Requirements:
1. The fire alarm system plan is found to be designed by a licensed alarm technician under the
provisions of National Fire Code 72 and related sections. It indicates the system will inter-tie with the
existing automatic fire sprinkler system,the commercial level kitchen, and HVAC controls.
2 The system and component specifications indicates that all are to be listed and approved for the purpose
for which they are to be installed. [I.F.C. 907.3]
3. The fire alarm system shall be installed by a licensed alarm technician using the provisions of
National Fire Code 72, and the National Electrical Code NFPA 70], and I.F.C. Section 907.6.
4. Visible alarm devices shall be located in all common areas. [I.F.C. 907.5.2.3.1]
5. Manual fire alarm devices shall be mounted at least 42 inches and not more than 48 inches above the
floor. [I.F.C. 907.4.2.2]
6. The fire alarm control panel is found to be in a proper location. The visual zone indication shall lock-
in until the system is reset and shall not be canceled by the operation of an audible-alarm silencing switch.

7. The main power supply for the fire alarm is to be on a dedicated branch circuit and properly signed. �+
8. The back-up batteries [secondary power supply] shall be labeled for date of installation. jn
9. The system is designed to be monitored by remotely. [I.F.C. 907.6.5] 0
10. The fire alarm system shall be acceptance-tested in the presence of a County Inspector. [I.F.C. 907.7]
11. A formal confidence test report shall be provided for this system after satisfactory acceptance testing,
with copies to the Department of Community Development. [I.F.C. 907.7.2] �"""

12. Detector sensitivity shall not be tested or measured using a device that administers an unmeasured
concentration of smoke or other aerosol into the detector. [I.F.C. 907.8.4.1]
13. A complete set of as-built drawings, including point to point wiring diagram of the completed system,
shall be provided to the owner. [I.F.C. 907.7.3]
13.1 This drawing shall indicate the interconnection of identified devices and controls, and shall indicate
the number of conductors in each run,and identify zone/circuit and E.O.L.s.
13.2 This drawing shall include the quantity of signaling devices on the most demanding circuits and
current consumption, the length of the longest circuit and the resistance of wire—use NEC resistance
specs or provide manufacturer spec sheet,and show formula service.
13.3 This drawing shall include a battery calculation sheet that shows standby power consumption of all
current drawing devices times the hours required by NVPA [24 or 60 hours] including power
consumption of the control panel modules, of all devices on standby power, including any door holders,
relays, smoke detectors,etc.
13.4 This drawing shall show alarm power consumption of all current drawing devices times the minutes
required by NFPA [5 or 15 minutes], and the formula format for battery calculations.
14. Manufacturer specification sheets of the fire alarm panel, and components used have provided to the
Jefferson County Department of Community Development included with permit application.
Any other applicable or relevant sections of said Codes not covered herein shall nonetheless apply to this
proposal.
1.5 hours time was logged for staff communications,review,reporting, and submittal of this report.
It is the recommendation of this plans examiner that the proposal be approved subject to the aforesaid
requirements.

Project Narrative
For this project we will be installing a new Silent Knight 5808 control panel
in a fully sprinkled building. There will be notification throughout as shown
on the drawing. The monitoring will be handled using the Enforcer Dialer
and the Leviton Cell Communicator to notify the customer as they have
request per their talk with the AHJ. We will be using 14/2c fplp wire for the
nacs and 16/2c fplp for the slc. For any questions regarding this please
