STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
ADVISORY BOARD APPOINTMENT re: Jefferson County Rural Library District Board of Trustees; To
complete an unexpired term, which expires April 2024; Mr. Raj Rakhra
ANALYSIS:
A letter nominating Mr. Raj Rakhra was received from Tamara Meredith, Jefferson County Library Director,
requesting she be appointed to the Jefferson County Rural Library District Advisory Board.
The Jefferson County Library Board of Trustees considered applicants for an open position left vacant upon
the resignation of Trustee Tom Hagen due to health reasons in July 2020. After consideration of the
candidates, the Trustees would like to request that you appoint Mr. Raj Rakhra to complete former Trustee
Tom Hagen's remaining term, which expires April 2024.
Raj has extensive experience in business, education, and technology. He has been a part-time resident in
Quilcene for many years, and has recently retired from a position at the University of Washington to live
full-time in Jefferson County. Raj is an avid supporter of libraries and literacy, and will make an excellent
addition to our library's Board of Trustees.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approve ADVISORY BOARD APPOINTMENT re: Jefferson County Rural Library District Board of
Trustees; To complete an unexpired term, which expires April 2024; Mr. Raj Rakhra
