HomeMy WebLinkAboutFacilities Lead Custodian JEFFERSON COUNTY Job Description Job Title: Facilities Lead Custodian Department: Central Services Reports To: Facilities Custodial Supervisor FLSA Exempt: No Union: UFCW BBP: Potential Exposure HIPAA: Level 3 Salary Level: Grade 25 Approved By: Human Resources Manager LC C- 1-" Approval Date: July 2020 SUMMARY Performs routine and regular cleaning, custodial and maintenance work of assigned County buildings and may perform grounds maintenance work as directed by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Coordinates routine janitorial activities,including all work order processing; makes recommendations regarding staff shifts and schedules and performs complex janitorial activities. Provides input to the Facilities Custodial Supervisor regarding the scheduling and completion of periodic janitorial activities, such as waxing floors,window cleaning,etc.;makes recommendations for the purchase and replacement of equipment and monitors the custodial budget. Wet and dry mop floors; vacuums, strips,washes and buffs floors; operates power cleaning equipment, mechanical cleaners and polishers;and mixes cleaning solutions as directed,Vacuum, spot clean and shampoo carpets; empties and cleans waste receptacles; dusts,waxes,washes and polishes furniture, counters,woodwork and metalwork. Cleans and washes window,walls,windowsills and screens as assigned. Cleans restrooms and replenishes supplies. Sweeps sidewalks and performs grounds maintenance duties as directed. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment as required. Turns out lights and locks doors and windows upon completion of night shift. Observes and reports to supervisor the need for repairs beyond the scope of this classification. Makes minor,non-technical repairs, including but not limited to replacing light bulbs. Cleans and disinfects clinic exam rooms at the County Health Department according to instruction and specifications. Prepares cost estimates on projects or assignments as requested. Orders materials and supplies as required. Accountable for specific project steps in a team based environment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities,but is a"lead"position in the division of assignment. Lead responsibilities include assisting the Department Head and/or Supervisor with interviewing, training,planning,assigning and directing work. Lead positions also provide input for performance appraisals and assist in addressing complaints and resolving problems. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma/GED and four(4)years experience in custodial maintenance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals,Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract,multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals,Ability to compute rate,ratio,and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram,or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; Internet software; EXCEL Spreadsheet software and WORD Word Processing software. OTHER KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to successfully complete annual training in handling blood borne pathogens. Ability to successfully complete annual training as assigned. Knowledge of the Jefferson County Exposure Control Plan. Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and equipment used in custodial work including brooms, wet mops, dust mops,vacuums, scouring devices and wax applicators. Knowledge of standard cleaning materials such as soaps, powders,waxes and polishes. Knowledge of all custodial routes and duties to allow for flexible coverage. Ability to maintain a high standard for accuracy, completeness, and efficiency in carrying out work assignments. Ability to quickly grasp new techniques,deal with rapid changes in events,remain calm in stressful situations,and relate to various personality styles in a calm professional manner. Ability to be independent and self-motivated to complete required deadlines while simultaneously completing other tasks. Ability to successfully complete various required training classes and obtain certificates necessary for functional skills performance, maintenance, and improvement. Ability to communicate and work effectively with the public,peers, subordinates and supervisors. CERTIFICATES,LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS Valid Washington State Driver's license. First Aid/CPR certification. Must pass a thorough background investigation which includes being fingerprinted.
