SUMMARY: Assists in clerical tasks during elections by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned:
Assists with the maintenance of the voter registration records as prescribed by the Revised Code of
Washington election laws. Compiles and verifies voter lists from official registration records. Obtains
signatures and records names of voters to prevent voting of unauthorized persons.
Assists the Chief Deputy Auditor with advising precincts, election boards, candidates,etc., in the
procedures to follow in the various phases of the election process.
Assists in the conduct of election board school and inspection teams at County center on election night.
Responds to requests from voters and polling place workers regarding voter information.
Distributes ballots to poll workers and answers questions concerning voting procedure.
Counts valid ballots and prepares official reports of election results.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each
essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill,

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree(GED); and three(3)years experience
in progressively responsible clerical or bookkeeping positions, including two(2)years
experience as an Administrative Clerk I or II with an emphasis on election work
and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions,and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of
basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in
situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of
instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database
software; Internet software;EXCEL Spreadsheet software and WORD Word Processing
software.
CERTIFICATES,LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS:
Valid Washington State Driver's License
OTHER KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of State election laws and associated policies.
Knowledge of procedures involved in preparing to conduct regular and special elections.
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and general clerical procedures.
Ability to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with other County employees,
officials, outside agencies and organizations, and the general public.
Ability to plan, coordinate and direct activities of several Election workers to attain accuracy,
completeness and efficiency in work.
