SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Group Leader Supervisor, deliver the integrated education/recreation
components of the YIPPEE summer enrichment program for Jefferson County youth. This program
will include one week of intensive training followed by six weeks of service to youths in a project
oriented, interactive environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Key components of the program are hands-on education, life-long recreation skills, and community
service learning. Specific responsibilities include:
Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing hands-on education, life-long recreation skills,
community service learning, and special program activities. Assist in record keeping. Supervise and
lead indoor/outdoor activities, arts and crafts, special e vents, and trips for youth ages 10 to 14.
Attend all required staff meetings and training sessions. Help complete all team responsibilities
including cleanup activities. Make sure equipment and supplies are properly cared for and stored.
Keep program supervisors informed as to program status, attendance, and relationships between
youths, parents, and fellow employees.
Encourage youths to participate in all program activities,actively involving and working with them to
ensure a fun and positive experience. Consistently present yourself as a positive role model to all program
participants and exhibit positive work habits.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as an alternate supervisor in absence of the Group Leader Supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year of higher education. Currently enrolled in or just graduated from a college or
university.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to express ideas and
directions clearly and concisely.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.
REASONING ABILTIY
Ability to define problems,collect data,establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
CERTIFICATES,LICENSES,REGISTRATIONS
CPR/First Aid required prior to start of training.NOTE: CPR/First Aid training may be provided during
staff training.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basic program planning and execution. Willingness to work cooperatively within a
community based,team teaching framework. Willingness to supervise and encourage the growth of high
school student aides from diverse backgrounds. Genuine desire to provide service to young people from
diverse backgrounds required.
Ability to maintain a harmonious relationship with other employees and the public. Ability to work with
others as a"team player." Positive attitude and high motivation.

While performing the duties of this job,the employee is regularly required to use their hand and
fingers and to be able to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, reach with
hands and arms,and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to stoop,kneel,crouch,or
crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required
by this job include close vision, distance vision,color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus.
