RE: 278 Scenic View Lane, Port Ludlow Geotech Waiver Request – Approval
Recommendation
Mr. and Mrs. Bacchus applied for a geotech waiver during the course of a building permit for a
new single-family residence. Mr. Cooper and Ms. Beeler’s property is mapped as an unstable
shoreline slope area and a slight landslide hazard. Slight landslides are no longer regulated, this
waiver only applies to the unstable shoreline slope area. I have reviewed Mr. and Mrs. Bacchus’
waiver request, available map and data, and completed the attached geohazard checklist. Mr.
and Mrs. Bacchus will implement applicable best management practices during construction.
There is an existing detached shop on the property that has shown no impacts from the
geologically hazards mapped on the property. Mr. and Mrs. Bacchus’ stormwater permit does
not trigger a geotech, as their site is less than 15% grade. The grade across the property
measures at approximately 8.3%. Based on our available data, Mr. and Mrs. Bacchus’ site,
proposed development, and analysis from the geohazard checklist I find that the standards for a
geotechnical report waiver, under Jefferson County Code 18.22.910, have been satisfied.
