PROCLAMATION
Of
THANKS & APPRECIATION
Whereas, since the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Washington State, life in the region has been
virtually upended with the spread of the virus and efforts to manage it; and
Whereas, many regional transfer stations temporarily closed after Governor Inslee issued a Stay Home, Stay
Healthy order on March 23; and
Whereas, Jefferson County's Quilcene Drop Box and Jacob Miller Road Transfer Station have remained open
to the public without interruption during the pandemic for the benefit, health, and safety of Jefferson
County's population, and in some cases also served residents from counties whose transfer stations were
closed because of the pandemic; and
Whereas, throughout this pandemic, the County's Solid Waste Division staff have provided exceptional
service to customers, while successfully implementing new protocols to effectively manage the risk from
Covid-19 to staff and the public; and
Whereas, Solid Waste Division staff have processed over 65,000 transactions since March 23rd and are on
track to serve more customers in 2020 than in 2oi9, despite the pandemic;
Now Therefore, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners do herby proclaim our Thanks and
Appreciation to the Solid Waste Division staff for their dedication to providing an essential public service to
the citizens of Jefferson County despite the heightened risk the pandemic presents, and encourage all
residents, businesses and visitors of Jefferson County tojoin us in extending our gratitude to these
extraordinary employees for their dedication to serving the public.
APPROVED this day of December, 2020.
