HomeMy WebLinkAbout120720_ra01JEFFERSON COUNTY BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST TO: Board of County Commissioners FROM: Philip Morley, Jefferson County Administra r DATE: December 7, 2020 RE: Proclamation of Thanks & Appreciation to Solid Waste Division Employees STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners will consider a Proclamation of Thanks & Appreciation to Solid Waste Division staff for their dedicated service in safely operating the County's Quilcene Drop Box and Jacob Miller Road Transfer Station throughout the COVID-19 pandemic without interruption. ANALYSIS: See above. FISCAL IMPACT: N/A. RECOMMENDATION: Read and adopt the attached Proclamation of Thanks & Appreciation to Solid Waste Division staff for their dedicated service in safely operating the County's Quilcene Drop Box and Jacob Miller Road Transfer Station throughout the COVID-19 pandemic without interruption. 711ip 1 i �' / J PROCLAMATION Of THANKS & APPRECIATION Whereas, since the first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Washington State, life in the region has been virtually upended with the spread of the virus and efforts to manage it; and Whereas, many regional transfer stations temporarily closed after Governor Inslee issued a Stay Home, Stay Healthy order on March 23; and Whereas, Jefferson County's Quilcene Drop Box and Jacob Miller Road Transfer Station have remained open to the public without interruption during the pandemic for the benefit, health, and safety of Jefferson County's population, and in some cases also served residents from counties whose transfer stations were closed because of the pandemic; and Whereas, throughout this pandemic, the County's Solid Waste Division staff have provided exceptional service to customers, while successfully implementing new protocols to effectively manage the risk from Covid-19 to staff and the public; and Whereas, Solid Waste Division staff have processed over 65,000 transactions since March 23rd and are on track to serve more customers in 2020 than in 2oi9, despite the pandemic; Now Therefore, the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners do herby proclaim our Thanks and Appreciation to the Solid Waste Division staff for their dedication to providing an essential public service to the citizens of Jefferson County despite the heightened risk the pandemic presents, and encourage all residents, businesses and visitors of Jefferson County tojoin us in extending our gratitude to these extraordinary employees for their dedication to serving the public.
