To whom it may concern,
I am writing this in hopes it will make a difference. I know that many families have
struggled to keep living here over the past few years. Rent prices have gone up while the gap
between those able to afford to buy a home and those not has widened. On top of that, the
number of rentals available has significantly reduced. I am seeing mobile homes in
questionable condition being rented out by landlords for over 1200 a month. I've lived here for
over 8 years. In that time I've seen businesses close due to the inability to keep trained staff
due to housing. The most recent example is Mt Townsend Creamery. Just this year, during a
pandemic, my rent in a 70's build manufactured home that has a rotting ADU attached to it,
roofing issues, and sub-floor issues just went up 300 dollars. We need to keep young families
in this area if we hope to keep this town alive. Something needs to be done to address the
affordable housing crisis here before we see more people become homeless and people resort
to crime out of desperation.
