ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S: Two vacancies on the NPC MRC, for citizen volunteers to represent the Scientific Community or Economic Groups, were advertised in the Peninsula Daily News on November 5th, 2020. Ms. Feltham expressed interest by the November 20th deadline. She was the only applicant. On December 7th, NPC MRC members Jill Silver (Conservation/Environmental Groups), Julie Ann Koehlinger (Hoh Tribe), and Tamil Pokorny (Jefferson County) interviewed Ms. Feltham, and they all recommend her highly to represent the Scientific Community. Ms. Feltham is a retired elementary school teacher. She completed the Jefferson Land Trust's Northwest Naturalist Program in 2012 and cofounded the organization's Natural History Society. Since moving to the area almost 10 years ago, she has become fascinated by the marine environment. She completed the WSU Beachwatchers program in 2013, and has volunteered regularly at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center (PTMSC) as a photographer, cleaning tanks, leading low tide walks for the public, and making presentations for other volunteers. She's also been involved with several citizen science projects sponsored by the PTMSC and is an avid birder. FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no fiscal impact to the county's General Fund for reappointing Ms. Feltham to a first 2-year term on the NPC MRC.
