Participants were randomized into two groups, one received the investigational vaccine and the other received a placebo. 170 individuals in the trial developed Covid-19 as a result of community exposure. 8 cases were in people who had received the vaccine, 162 cases were in the unvaccinated group. This is where the 95% effectiveness information comes from. Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. Hi there, I haven't been able to get this question answered and was hoping you might know the answer. When the reports say that a vaccine is 95% effective, does that mean that each trial participant was intentionally exposed to coronavirus and 95% of them do not get sick? Or does the trial rely on community exposure, which is much more random? Thanks for your help. Sharon Rader 970-903-3586
