Exercise caution when opening attachments or clicking links, especially from unknown senders. Dear Board of Health, I apologize for the late timing of this email. I wrongly assumed that I would be able to call-in to make a public comment. I see now, that there is no public comment on the agenda. Nonetheless, I want to thank the Board of Health and staff for addressing a path forward to permit holding tanks in our county. Especially in the case of the emergency temporary facilities that serve the homeless or at- risk populations. Good Man Sanitation is working had with all local stakeholders to meet the need of our neighbors experiencing homelessness and to provide pumping services at or below our base cost. After long conversations with Linda Atkins and evaluating the cost for regular pumping of holding tanks, I want to be clear that holding tanks as a long term solution are far from affordable. The regular rate of $.45 per gallon is based on volume of pumping. Our rate for pumping smaller tanks is typically higher for a number of reasons. Not least of which, is the necessity for anything pumped into our Portable Toilet trucks must be transported from the County, thereby driving up the cost. Most septic systems only need to be pumped every 3 to 5 years meaning the $450 plus Tax price tag is defrayed over time. It is my hope, that perhaps the community could develop a local zero to minimal interest loan program for community members to access funds for building/repairing/installing septic systems. I am happy to discuss this matter further should there be need. Sincerely, Amanda Funaro Principal Operations Officer Good Man, Inc. 360-385-7155
