STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
BRIEFING re: Code Compliance Amnesty Program
ANALYSIS:
Debra Murdock, Code Compliance Coordinator will brief the Commissioners on a proposed Amnesty
Program.

Inform the public about the new Compliance Code
(JCC Title
Provide a transition period to resolve existing compliance case
without being subject to enforcement, including penalty fees.
Allow property owners with existing code violations (unknown t
the County) to come forward and enter into a Voluntary
Compliance Agreement without concerns about being fi
Letters will be sent to property owners of existing
code violations informing them of the program and
how to get enrolled.
Deadline to sign-up will be 90 Days after the
approved Amnesty Program takes affect, except for
violations that pose and immediate and serious
threat to public health and safety.
Enter into a Voluntary Compliance Agreement with
property owners.
Code Compliance will work with property owner to
educate and guide the owner to completing
project.
Once deadline has passed Code Compliance wil
inspect the property.
If code violation has been resolved, the case will
closed and a "Notice of Compliance" letter will k
issued. ��
If the code violation has NOT been resolved;
enforcement action will begin, including fines.
The Voluntary Compliance Agreement (VCA) will
outline the steps needed to be taken for the
property to come into compliance and the case
to be closed.
The VCA will have clearly outlined deadlines for
compliance, with a list of corrections and permit
types needed to come into compliance. r
