Jefferson County as a community
From the shores of the Pacific Ocean to the tranquil
waters of Puget Sound and Hood Canal, the area now
referred to as Jefferson County has been an inspiration
to the generations who have called it home. The stories
and legends of native tribes who inhabited the area
speak eloquently of the spirit of this land; and the
journals of the early explorers are replete with
descriptions of the awesome beauty and bountiful
natural resources found here.
Jefferson County is home to ten state parks:
• Anderson Lake
• Dosewallips
• Fort Flagler
• Fort Townsend
• Fort Worden
• Kinney Point
• Mystery Bay
• Pleasant
Harbor

Tidelands
• Triton Cove State Park
Jefferson County is home to the Olympic National park
which is an International Biosphere Reserve and a
World Heritage Site with 95 % of the park designated
as Olympic Wilderness.
Our Community
Jefferson County has a population more than 30,000
and is surrounded by the Puget Sound, State and
National Parks, as well as the Olympic Mountains in
our background.

we have two Master Plan Resorts in our outlying rural
area.
