Note: The MP 1.384 culvert watershed has a large wetland/ponds on both sides of SR 104. These
wetland/ponds act as stormwater detension ponds and reduce the peak (CFS) flows. This flow
mitigation capacity is not fully accounted for in the regression equation,

NOTES:
O 1. THE CONTOURS AND DRAINAGE NETWORK SHOWN WERE DEVELOPED USING COMPUTER
SOFTWARE AND A DIGITAL ELEVATION MODEL DERIVED FROM LiDAR GROUND POINTS
WITH AN APPROXIMATE 2 METER POINT SPACING.
2. THE DESIGN FLOWS THROUGH THE CULVERT WERE COMPUTED USING THE USGS 1998
SIMPLIFIED REGRESSION EQUATION. THIS WATERSHED INCLUDES LARGE WETLANDS AND
PONDS ON BOTH SIDES OF SR 104 WHICH ARE LIKELY TO RESULT IN ACTUAL FLOWS
SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER THAN THE VALUES DERIVED USING THE REGRESSION EQUATION.
3. THE FHWA HY-8 CULVERT DESIGN SOFTWARE WAS USED TO CONFIRM THE PROPOSED
CULVERT HAS SUFFICIENT CAPACITY. THE 100 YEAR RETURN INTERVAL HIGH RANGE
FLOW VALUE (30 CFS) WAS USED AS A WORST CASE SCENARIO.
i 4. THE HY-8 SOFTWARE CANNOT MODEL A ZERO SLOPE CULVERT WITH A SLOPED STREAM
BOTTOM THROUGH THE CULVERT. THE CULVERT GEOMETRY SHOWN IN THE IMAGE ABOVE
} WAS USED, THIS SHOULD BE A CLOSE APPROXIMATION TO THE ZERO SLOPE CULVERT
j AND STREAM BOTTOM REGRADE EXPECTED AT THIS LOCATION.
