Hello,
I am writing to inquire/clarify the current regulations for dog grooming appointments in PortTownsend WA/Jefferson County.
I have been a resident of Port Townsend since April 2020. It is my understanding as of May2020 the county commissioners changed to wording for allowed appointments from "local " to
existing customers during the pandemic phase 1, and possible 2. I have attempted to schedule an appointment for my dog since in county May 2020 without
success, because my dog is NOT a pre existing client. I have been informed that pre existing customers are allowed to come from out of county, for
appointment, and I have been referred to go out of county for services as a new customer. Please educate me on this matter. The reasoning to allow out of county customers, to come
into county for service, but exclude local residents makes no sense when the goal is to limitexposure. I did not establish my dog as a client in May 2020 before the rule change, as the
service was not needed then. Now I am forced to drive out of county for service, which wastesgas, increases exposure to COVID.
Will this rule be reviewed? Why are hair stylists taking new clients who live in PT but doggroomers are not allowed to? Especially since the dog grooming is a curb side drop off, no
contact with groomer inside.
