Ihavetobeginmycommentswith praisefortheBoCC’schoiceofAustin WatkinsasconsultantandforDavidWayneJohnson oftheDCDontheDCDrecommendationsofthe2020JeffersonCountyDocketissueMLA19-00019. The
work isn’teasy. In thecaseof MLA19-00019, thepossibilityofchangingpreviouspermittingrulesthatareCountywidecan bedauntingwiththeeffectsfarreaching. Thatsaid, IsupporttheDCD’srecommendation onthisissue
wholeheartedly.
Ialso want tothank theindividuals on the Planning Commission whowent to considerable effort in research anddeliberations before suggesting that MLA19-00019 beplaced on the 2019 Docket.
And thankyou totheBoCC who heldtrueto their promisethatit would beon the 2020Docket. Who could predict itwouldbe suchanunprecedented year. YettheCounty work hascontinued.
You’ve allreceivedhundredsof lettersovertheyears containingfactbasedreasons forre-addressingthemarijuana issueaspresentedin MLA19-00019, pluspetitionswithhundredsofnames, allindicatingthatJefferson Countycitizens
arein support ofremovingmarijuanaproducingandprocessingfrom allRuralResidentialcountylands. Youall havepages ofourspecific argumentsfrom ourresearch, soIwon’tbelaborthemhere. Thisissueisonceagain onyour
table. I haveeveryfaiththatyourbesteffortswillprevail.
Thisspecific burden liftedfrom the shoulders oftheDCDwill giveit backtimeand someresources topursue better, moreprofitable ways toenrich theCounty. And the Planing Commission memberswill befreetopursueother
pressingissues tomove Jefferson Countyintotheeverevolving future. Thank youallforyourconsideration.
