My Y n PT for over 50 years. We have watched our kids play
sports, seen car shows, carnivals and New Year's celebrations. We now
own a condo just across the back fence on Monroe St.
We have watched the continuous repair that must happen just to keep the
deer from feeding in the field. We know that it against the State law to feed
Wild animals and feel sorry that the temporary repairs are needed to keep
the wild deer out.
Because it is a federal memorial field to remember those who fought for
our freedoms perhaps federal funding would be available to pay for all or
part of the fence.
A chain link fence will allow the locals and tourists to feel a bit of peace
and comfort from the view of the grass and hill side to the north. The
improved visibility for vehicles turning the corners would increase safety.
The ability to view happenings on the field will increase attendance at
those events. I know some school people think otherwise but other
schools that have increased visibility found the opposite was true.
The new fence could be moved slightly to provide for wider sidewalks in
the future. I have offered my services on the parks and rec committee but
was told by past mayor that I was not qualified.
The virus has not allowed normal discussions with you and I am always
available to talk about any ideas you may want from an old doer. Thank
you for your service in these hard times. It has just begun.
