To the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee,
This is a request to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee to hold a special meeting to consider a
supplementary application to the 2021 LTAC by the Quilcene Fair and Parade(QFP)to supplement their
2021 award.
We all know what a challenging year it was for event organizations in the past year, and in the tumult of
both preserving our fund balance and keeping the lights on at our important touristic non-profit
organizations, there was some miscommunication and assumptions on both sides. While the county itself
acted appropriately,I will shoulder some of the blame for making an assumption about the QFP's'21
application.
County Administrator Philip Morley,Clerk of the Board, Carolyn Gallaway, and I met with the President
and Treasurer of the QFP last week to talk through these issues.Staff and I have arrived at a consensus
recommendation that the Quilcene Fair and Parade be allowed to submit for your consideration a
supplementary application to build the resiliency of the annual Quilcene Fair and Parade through adding
an online component, and perhaps additional power pole flag mounts.
While this is a new application not represented in their'21 application,we believe it to be an equitable
resolution to the miscommunication and in line with your other consideration of late applications for the
2021 funds. This in no way endorses changing the go-forward recommendation of not accepting late
applications, but seems the most equitable way of resolving this issue.
Thank you footyour consideration,
Greg Brotherton
