Curing compound shall be sprayed on all exposed surfaces immediately after final toweling. 2. All cement shall conform to the ASTM Standard C-150. All aggregate shall conform to ASTM Standard C-33. All reinforcing bars shall conform to ASTM Standard A-615 as follows: #3-#5 Bars and WWM-Grade 40 #6 Bars and larger-Grade 60 All rebar to be welded shall be ASTM A706 steel. Preheat all bars #7 and larger per AWS D14-92. Preheat not required for bar sizes #6 and smaller. 3. Concrete used for basement walls (not exposed to weather), basement slabs, foundations and interior slabs on grade except garage slabs shall have a minimum 28-day compressive strength of 2500 psi and shall not contain less than 5 sacks of cement per cubic yard. 4. Concrete used for basement walls, foundation walls, exterior walls, porches, carport slabs, garage slabs, steps exposed to weather, and other vertical concrete work exposed to weather shall have a minimum 28-day compressive strength of 3000 psi and shall not contain less than 5-12 sacks of cement per cubic yard. Concrete shall also be air entrained. Total air content (percent by volume) shall not be less than 5% or more than 7%. 5. Where dimensions of reinforcing is indicated on plans, dimensions are for straight lengths of bar only. The bent section of bar is not included in the length indicated on plans. 6. A standard hook is defined as a 90° bend plus a straight length of bar equal to 12 bar diameters. 7. Splices in continuous reinforcement shall lap as noted on the plans as follows: Grade 40 reinforcing bars: Minimum of 32 bar diameters Grade 60 reinforcing bars: Minimum of 48 bar diameters 8. Unless shown otherwise, the minimum concrete cover for reinforcing shall be 3" when placed directly against earth and 2" for all other locations unless specified on the plans. 9. Crack control joints shall be placed in all slabs over 200 s.f. and shall be spaced a maximum of 20' in each direction. Control joints layout shall be as square as practicable. Control joints shall be made by means of "Zip Strips", Sawcuts, formed joints or other industry approved standards. Sawcuts shall be cut to a depth equal to 1 4 the slab thickness, and shall be cut at approximately 4 hours after placement in warm weather and 12 hours after placement in cold weather. 10. Concrete design is based on a 28-day compressive strength of 2500 psi. Higher values are specified for durability only. 11. FIBERMESH shall be FIBERMESH 300-e3 manufactured by SIKA with an application rate of 11 2 pounds per cubic yard. POST INSTALLED ANCHOR NOTES: 1. Adhesive Anchors: Anchoring adhesive shall be a two-component high solids, epoxy-based system supplied in manufacturer's standard cartridge and dispensed through static-mixing nozzle supplied by the manufacturer. Mechanical Anchors: Expansion: Wedge anchors shall be an imperial-sized steel threaded stud with an integral cone expander and a three-segmented expansion clip. The stud shall be manufactured from carbon steel and the expansion clip shall have two undercutting embossments per segment and be manufactured from 316 stainless steel. The anchor shall have been tested and qualified for performance in cracked concrete per ACI 355.2 and ICC-ES AC193. Anchors shall be Strong-Bolt wedge anchors from Simpson Strong-Tie. Install per manufacture's recommendations. Screw: Anchor shall have 360° contact with the base material and shall not require oversized holes for installation. Fasteners shall be manufactured from carbon steel, and are heat treated. Anchors shall be zinc plated in accordance with ASTM B633 or mechanically galvanized in accordance with ASTM B695. The anchor shall have been tested and qualified for performance in cracked concrete per ACI 355.2 and ICC-ES AC193. Anchors are not to be reused after initial installation. Screw anchors shall be Titen HD anchors from Simpson Strong-Tie. Install per manufacturer's recommendations. GENERAL NOTES 1. Where connector straps connect two members, one-half of the nails or bolts shall be placed in each member. All bolts in wood members shall conform to ASTM A307. Alternate joist hangers and other hardware may be substituted for items shown provided that they are ICC approved for equal or greater load capacity. All joist hangers and other hardware shall be compatible in size with members provided. All connectors used with pressure treated wood shall be ZMAX, Post Hot-Dipped Galvanized, or SST300 (Stainless Steel). Use only stainless steel fasteners with stainless steel connectors. Use only Hot-Dipped Galvanized fasteners with ZMAX and Post Hot-Dipped Galvanized connectors. Stainless steel is recommended for treated wood with an ACQ retention value of 0.60 or higher. 7. PRESSURE TREATED WOOD: All wood shall be treated with ACQ unless approved by Engineer. Pressure treated wood called out on plans shall conform to AWPA Standard U1-10 with preservative retention for the following applications as follows: a. UC3B - Above ground (0.25) b. UC4A - In contact with ground (0.40) c. UC4B - Embedded in ground or concrete (0.60) All treated wood that is cut or drilled shall shall have the exposed wood surface field treated with 2% Copper Naphthenate meeting the AWPA Standard M4 8. Holes for bolts shall be the bolt diameter plus 116" 9. All bolts, threaded rod and lag screws shall be tightened on installation and retightened before closing in or upon completion of the job. 10. All bolts, lag screws and threaded rod shall be provided with washers where the nut head bears on the wood. Washers shall have a minimum dimension of at least two bolt diameters. 11. Mudsill plate anchor bolts shall be provided at a maximum spacing of four feet or as shown on the plans. Each section of mudsill shall have at least two bolts with one bolt not more than 12" from each end. 12. The minimum size of anchor bolts shall be 1 2" diameter. The minimum embedment shall be 7" into the concrete and no anchor bolt shall be located closer than 2" from the edge of the concrete. All bolts shall conform with ASTM Standard A-307. Plate washers a minimum of 3" x 3" x 1 4" thick shall be used on each bolt. 13. Holdown anchor bolts called out on plans shall be as manufactured by Simpson Strong-tie. Common anchor bolts called out on the plans shall conform to ASTM F1554 Gr. 36 or A307 Gr. B. 14. All nails for structural work shall be common wire nails as indicated on the plans or ICC approved mechanically driven fasteners of equivalent holding strength.
