Dear Joel Peterson, Please find following a mitigation plan for Lee Robinson garage expansion at 51 Oak Road in Port Hadlock, WA, which is located within the shoreline jurisdiction. Per your lr dated MarcWN1, 2021 Before Condition: 26' x 38' garage = 988 sf' After Condition: expansion with stairs at 6' x 26' = 156 sf = total structure 1144 sf Expansion of 988 sf. to 1144 sf = 14% Area located in buffer: existing 10' x 26' = 260 + stairs area of 156 sf = 416 sf of equivalent buffer area to be enhanced with native vegetation. Proposed planting area is 445 sf. Homeowner is committed to the project and is offering 29 sf of additional plantings over the required 416 sf. Planting area is located at t th of the property, adjacent to the water and consists of 3 planting zones shown below. Zone A - Top of bank planting -134 sf Zone B - Slope planting - 259 sf Zone C - Beach planting - 52 sf This specific area was chosen as the mitigation site for several reasons. 1) Provides an area large enough to accommodate the entire mitigation. 2) Provides an area adjacent to water, which adds additional benefit by connecting it to an existing wildlife area. 3) Provides an opportunity to remove the non-native and invasive English Ivy and replace with native vegetation that has wildlife value. 4) Provides an opportunity to create two types of ecosystem restoration, upland and beach environments. Beach plantings will also help to curtail potential future erosion from wave action. Zone A Evergreen huckleberry - Vaccinium ovatum 2-1gallon Kinnikinnik - Artostaphylos urva-ursi 15 - 4"-pots Red Flowering Currant - Ribes sanguineum 10 - 1 gallon Salal - Gaultheria shallon 20 - 4" pots 7 - 1 gallon Snowberry - Symphoricarpos albus 4 - 1 gallon Western Sword Fern - Polystichum munitum 10 - 4" pots N Zone B Kinnikinnik - Artostaphylos urva-ursi 15 - 4"-pots Salal - Gaultheria shallon 40 - 4" pots Snowberry - Symphoricarpos albus 18 - 1 gallon Tall Oregon Grape - Mahonia aquifolium 7 - 1 gallon Western Sword Fern - Polystichum munitum 23 - 4" pots Zone C American Dune grass - Elymus mollis 50 - plugs Substitutions on Size If specific sizes are not available substitute 1 gallon for 2- 4" pot, 2 plugs can be substituted for one 4" pot and container stock can be substituted for bareroot stock per recommendation from restoration biologist. Preparation of PlarmUng, Site Biologist will identify and mark existing native vegetation to remain on the planting site and all nonnative vegetation needs to be removed.
