Hello to the board- I am writing to let you know that as a registered nurse and resident of Jefferson County, I amhighly in favor of keeping the indoor masking mandate for our county. I am a registered nurse who works with, and lives with, vulnerable people who may not be responsive to, or "covered"by, the vaccines, and they are already scared to leave their homes with the outdoor masking mandates dropped and so many people walking the streets downtown with no masks. We havea large senior population in our county and I feel that we need to do our best to keep our residents safe until we know more about how much virus is transmitted from infected, vaccinated people; where the pandemic is headed with variants such as the delta variant; and if the vaccines and natural immunity from prior infection protect against variants. In the last 2weeks, our Covid-19 rates have been rising, possibly due to the Memorial Day holiday, and possibly due to the reduction in mask wearing. I strongly support a masking mandate forindoors, and I encourage masking when closer than 6 feet to others outdoors, such as children and parents in play grounds. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Reina Garcia, BS, RN Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email.
