I would like to make a formal request for an extension of the Brinnon Subarea Plan SEPA review period. The review
period, December 12-26, falls during the busy Holiday season when many state agency staff are on holiday. I have
contacted WDFW and Ecology staff and many are unavailable and cannot comment during this period. Ann Shaffer,
WDFW marine area habitat biologist for east Jefferson County, is on vacation. Jeff Davis, WDFW freshwater area
habitat biologist for the area, has been swamped with HPA requests due to recent storms and flooding events.
The significance of the recommendations in the BSAP (namely, the creation of a master planned resort at Black Point)
warrants a careful and non-rushed review by knowledgeable state and federal agency staff. An additional two weeks
would enable the County to hear from and respond to information from these parties.
