We strongly support the County in its efforts to strengthen its environmental codes and foster proper development while protecting our precious natural resources. Stormwater runoff threatens the health and integrity of stream habitat and shellfish tidelands across the nation, and adoption of this updated stormwater manual would strengthen on -the -ground protection for our precious aquatic resources. Jefferson County is one of the first Puget Sound municipalities to adopt these new stormwater guidelines and we commend the County for its leadership on this important issue. In addition, the County has made other significant improvements in its environmental policies and practices over the past two years including: adoption of improved development rules, and creation of an active Natural Resources Department. The Tribe also appreciates the collaborative working relationship we have developed with the County and its staff on a range of issues, from mapping floodplains and fish habitat to watershed planning. We thank you for your leadership. Sincerely, ,.,! l nald G. Charles Tribal Choir
