Hello Mr. Butler.
Thank you for the invitation to attend your November 2, 2006 visit to a proposed development site in the Black Point
Pleasant Harbor area near Brinnon, WA.
I am happy to attend on behalf of the Forest Practices Division. Accompanying me will be our Olympic Region Forest
Practices Coordinator, Ross Goodwin, who will represent the forest practices operational perspective. Ross' e-mail is
ross.goodwin@wadnr.gov
Ross and I will be looking forward to receiving further details/arrangements and to meeting you on November 2.
I understand from Stephenie Kramer that you have already been researching the cultural resource issues on this site and
commend you on your proactive approach to identify and protect cultural resources.

Dear Ms. Sherri Felix:
Would you or another person from the Department of Natural Resources, who is responsible for the provisions of the
Forest Practices Act which pertain to cultural resources, e.g., 'archaeological and historic sites and artifacts and
traditional religious, ceremonial and social uses and activities of affected Indian tribes,' be interested in attending a site
visit on November 2, 2006?
You were recommended as the best contact person by the office of the State Archaeologist for the 890 unit Master
Planned Resort (MPR). Under RCW 36.70A.360, a MPR is 'a self-contained and fully integrated planned unit
development, in a setting of significant natural amenities, with primary focus on destination resort faculties consisting of
short-term visitor accommodations associated with a range of developed on-site indoor or outdoor recreational
facilities.' This project is located in the Black Point Pleasant Harbor area of the Hood Canal. A preliminary assessment by
the First Nations which have occupied the site since 'time immemorial' indicates a significant potential for the existence
of historic resources within the boundaries of the proposed project. I am therefore currently coordinating a site visit for
responsible public agencies for November 2, 2006 and respectfully invite you and/or the designated responsible official
for this site visit prior to the completion of the draft Environmental Impact Statement.
Please respond at your earliest convenience.
best,
Brent Butler

Hi Brent,
The contact for the person at DNR is Sherri Felix, 360-902-1446, and her email is sherri.felix@wadnr.gov when its time
to talk to them about the FPA for the Pleasant Marina PUD project FPA. I'm not sure who the regional contact will be,
but Sherri is our Olympia contact for policy and cultural resources issues.
Good site visit Friday!
