This is to let you know that we are very worried about the Statesman plans for parking at Pleasant Harbor Marina. The plan is to have us park 1/3 of a mile up hill from the ramp leading to our boat; this is not convenient for us and not what we agreed to when first agreeing to use Pleasant Harbor as our boats' "home". Since we travel from Oregon to go boating in Puget Sound our hours of arrival at Pleasant Harbor are never a sure thing until we actually drive down their driveway. To make reservations for arrival, load up on a shuttle, unload then load up again on a cart to get to the boat and pay for the privilege of doing that process makes us want to go somewhere other than Jefferson County for our boating activities. Currently there are parking spaces nearby, upgrade them and then leave them where they are! We do not feel that our vehicle would be safe parked next to Highway 101. At Pleasant Harbor we used to have a night watchman. Not any more! Often times we use our boat as a place to stay while making day trips into Port Townsend and touring the Olympic Peninsula. Since we are considered "seniors" a steep uphill climb does not appeal to us. Help us want to go to PT to spend money! The Statesman Group needs to take into consideration boaters' needs to access their vehicles. Hopefully Jefferson County can encourage Statesman to rethink their parking plan. Yours Dan & Ann Klemp
