Mr. Johnson:
I am writing this in regard to the current development plan for the Pleasant Harbor
Marina in Brinnon. My wife and I are long time Marina tenants ( over 12 yr. ) and have
enjoyed having a nice facility close to home with great access and amenities. We have
lived through several owners and myriad plans for the future of the Marina. We must
bring to your attention our total dissatisfaction with the current plan as we understand it.
It appears that in the latest scenario the current road that allows immediate access to the
head of the dock ramps will be closed to all but emergency traffic. With a plan to
eliminate all long term parking adjacent to the Marina and forcing all tenants and visitors
to park approx. 1/3 mile south on hiway 101 with some sort of shuttle to the marina.
I don't know if you are a boater but if so you know how important it is to be able to
unload the equipment and supplies needed to go boating, shrimping, crabbing etc. Not to
mention bringing repair tools and supplies. To have to unload these, sometimes, mounds
of STUFF and then take them down to the dock ramps via some sort of mechanical cart
will not only be a huge hassle but on busy weekends i.e. opening of shrimping/crabbing,
holiday weekends will cause an ungodly bottle neck and likely gridlock.
While we look forward to the renovation/replacement of the Marina store and Deli, it's
hard to imagine future Deli customers willing to park 1/3 mile away and wait for a
"shuttle" to come take them down for a sandwich or pizza. This plan will be the death of
this business.
We want to emphasis that we are big supporters of the Development of the resort and golf
course and feel it is essential for the survival of Brinnon. But the current plan for the
Marina is in all likely hood going to be its' demise.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Richard and Sheila Moore
