HomeMy WebLinkAbout036David Wayne Johnson Jefferson County Development Department, 621 Sheridan Street, Port Townsend, WA 98368 Dear Mr. Johnson; John Christensen Pleasant Harbor Marina 308913 U.S Hwy 101 Brinnon, WA 98320 March 30th 2012 I feel this development will have large benefits to the community and create jobs. However the current plans to severely restrict access to our boats will have large negative effects on boaters that use this marina. Being charged for access to provision our boats during outside of normal working hours would severely impact the desirability of this marina to any boater. This in turn this would severely degrade the value of the slip that we have invested thousands of dollars in. The present idea of having somebody available if I decide to come into my slip Sunday morning, at 4am during high tide, is going to cost someone, myself or the marina, a considerable amount of money. If Mr. Mann was a sail boater he would know that depending on tide, currents or wind I might arrive anytime between midnight and 6 am. Is he going to absorb this cost or expect me to pay for this person standing by? Previously we had night time security that was always available to provide assistance with anything; from tying up to a slip or helping with the transporting of provisions. The night time security that was always available has been eliminated in the stated interest of economy. Now we are talking about restarting night time security, which I feel is very important. Will this be part of the shuttle service? Or will this be part of night time security? If it is part of shuttle service are we going to be expected to pay for it or will it be part of marina operations? Personally I feel this proposed plan will cause boaters to be much less likely to utilize this marina. As a result a large investment I have made in this marina is going to be greatly reduced in value by incompetent management that does not understand marina management or boater needs. It also implies that I will be willing to park in an unguarded parking lot a considerable distance from the marina. Yours Sincerely, L 0 01' JOHN CHRISTENSEN
