RE: PLEASANT HARBOR MARINA DEVELOPMENT- PROPOSED PARKING AND ACCESS
Dear Sir;
It has come to our attention that the existing marina parking and access to the dock ramps is being restricted due
to requirements being imposed by Jefferson County on the developer, Mister Garth Mann.
The proposed reduction of parking and individual vehicle access to the top of the boat ramps, for off loading of
provisions, guests, pets, etc. is highly disturbing. The idea of having shuttles with trailers, elevators and Man Lifts
moving people and the aforementioned provisions, pets etc. is ludicrous. Do you realize what an impact this
change will have on marina tenants and slip owners, and the marina itself?? The long waits for so-called shuttle
service, loading and unloading of goods several times, between the vehicle to the dock cart, on to the shuttle, off
the shuttle, on the dock cart, off the dock cart etc. Do you realize how much provisioning is required for extended
cruises and what an impact this will have on the so called shuttle service?? Long waits in inclement weather, not
to mention the costs of the shuttle service to tenants. For the many tenants who arrive after hours who knows
what the costs will be for service.?? I could go on and on..
How can you propose restricting the access and parking for the marina, that has existed for many, many years,
and is so vital for boaters needs??
Sport fishing, crabbing and clamming etc. have been so curtailed that local businesses have been negatively
impacted. Marinas have to depend on their annual and seasonal moorage tenants for revenue, If the proposed
restrictions are implemented, boaters will move to marinas that have unrestricted access.
Finally, for an operation that has a hard time maintaining and up -grading its current facilities, I find all the rhetoric
about underground parking garages, valet service, elevators etc. ridiculous and far fetched. Upgrade existing
facilities, but leave our access as is.
As slip owners, and residents of Jefferson County, we are concerned about our investment, in this marina, if this
proposal is enacted, and we are vehemently opposed to this proposed change..
Thank You,
Larry Gauer
