Good Evening, Phil
I did not make the mail drop in time. Attached is the letter to Jefferson County.
Tomorrow I will post a signed copy to Pleasant Harbor.

Dear, Mr. Johnson
Jefferson County Development Department did a good job understanding boaters' needs
when Pleasant Harbor was approved for construction many years ago. It is a beautifu
1 marina and the only sheltered harbor on the Hood Canal. My wife and I discovered
Pleasant Harbor on our way to taking our kids to Girl Scout camp back in 1992. We w
ere surprised to find a sheltered harbor surrounded by trees and protected by winds.
Even though it was a long way for us to travel we thought the Marina was perfect for
our family needs and we moved our forty foot ketch and then purchased a lease in 19
94. Because we lived and worked so far away we needed a place to park our car close
to our boat all times day and night. A major benefit for us was the convenient park
ing and land gear drop that was available at each ramp with easy access to our car.
It's been twenty years and during our stay we have had four different owners who hav
e managed Pleasant Harbor. The last three owners have maintained the site plan and
charm of the marina. To our dismay the current owners, the Statesmen group, are try
ing to alter the site plan opposite to what a working marina should be. Most of us
do not live in Brinnon. We come from Oregon, Colorado, Montana, Eastern Washington a
nd for us, Woodinville, WA. We arrive at all times, day and night. We come for exte
nded stay and need our parking convenient. With proposed parking 1/3 mile away and
then having to pay for transport to the marina at 2am is opposite to what Statesmen
should be doing. Their plan of moving the parking is not an improvement but a hards
hip for us, and we are to share in the cost. I wonder what would happen if parking f
or the Port Townsend Marina was at the other end of town. The logical explanation is
that the Statesmen group is trying to lower our investment in the mori
no, a corporate manipulation so they can buy us out. Something is not right about th
is. It makes no sense. Please don't let them do this. It will ruin our investment
. No marina can operate this way. We both are in favor of Jefferson County to keep
the current site plan and not approve any alterations to the flow of traffic and par
king on the marina grounds.
The only protected Marina on Hood Canal that is far away from most and should be mai
ntained the way it is and convenient parking close by should remain as is.
Thank you,
Dennis & Mary Anne Soderberg
