As project manager, you are the "hub" of the wheel! Realize that everything revolves around you. Take charge of the process to ensure (within your control) that the contract is successfully fulfilled. V 2. Don't assume the other guy is taking care of itl Keep checking with involved parties, including consultants, Statesman, agencies or others. r./ S. Regutar check-ins are essentia!! One technique is to schedule a regular call-in time on a weekly or biweekly schedule. This is especially recommended for Blumen. Any schedule slippage or issues need to be identified early and addressed. t/q. Devetop retationships! Do not rely totally on email. Phone contact helps build relationships and is better for items needing discussion. Avoid "dropped balls"t Make your own time-line schedule to list the tasks that will be our responsibility. This will aide in planning for them and accomplishing them. i,/A Be a leader! Do not default to the consultants or owner on required steps, including setting meeting agendas or facilitating meetings. The County needs to be involved and show leadership in all aspects of the SEIS process. r,Be a problem solver! Problems will arise. Mediate disputes, offer ideas and facilitate solutions. Manaqing the Process /,Avoid procedural missteps! The contract scope of work, plus attachment C, the programmatic EIS and Ordinance #01-0128-08 have specific items that need to be provided or addressed. Be knowledgeable about these and plan for how they will be addressed. Do not default to the consultant for this n.
