At the tribe's request, the Jefferson County Department of Community Development (DCD) granted Port Gamble S'klallam Tribe a sixty-day extension to the written comment period, ensuring opportunity for them to study and submit comments concerning the MPR proposal. They have until March 6,2016 to submit comments. DCD made available the Final Supplemental Environmental lmpact Statement (FSEIS) for the Brinnon/Pleasant Harbor MPR (296 pages plus 434 pages of exhibits) on December 141h,2015, just before the winter holidays, with a public hearing in Brinnon held on January 6th, 2016. lt and other documents related to this proposal are available on the county website. The February 3rd meeting was the first opportunity for planning commissioners and staff to publicly review questions raised in the public hearing in Brinnon, to seek additional materials and information, and to voice concerns unearthed in their study of this complex proposal and its possible environment effects. [/any of our citizen planning commissioners are new and have not reviewed this proposal in the past. With new information, new options, and a newly completed FSEIS, it is important we as a planning commission and as a county take the time to get this right. 1 As the commission wrestles with big questions to get to good answers, I don't yet know how I will vote. I am proud that our planning commission, in all its diversity, has worked well together in the past and I expect will continue to do so. Sincerely, Cynthia Koan, Chair Jefferson County Planning Commission cc:Phillip Morley, DCD Staff, and the Jefferson County Planning Commission tr: = tr; 2
