Don and Joe,
Thanks for your interest in participating in a field visit to
the Pleasant Harbor and Duckabush sites to discuss potential resolutions
to elk-golf course conflicts.
Because Don will be away until after October 4, the earliest
date we could do this is October 5. October 9 is also a possible date. I
have a conflict on October 6, and then I will be out of state October
10-18. So if October 5 and 9 don’t work for everyone, we’ll have to
shoot for late October.
I would like to have two Washington Department of Fish &
Wildlife staff join us. Bryan Murphie is the local District Biologist.
He has extensive experience with elk management. The other is Matt
Blankenship, WDFW’s wildlife conflict specialist in our region. He may
be able to offer some insights on avoiding conflicts with elk and other
wildlife on Black Point. I’ve put in calls to both Bryan and Matt to
coordinate schedules and find a date that suits everyone.
Please let me know if the October 5th and/or 9th dates work for
you. I’ll get back in touch when I hear from Bryan and Matt.
