Re: Kettle Pond B within the Pleasant Harbor Master Planned Resort
In a "go-to- meeting" in January 2017 with the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe (PGST), Laura Price stated
the Tribe would pursue the preservation of Kettle B with DAHP to have it listed as a "traditional cultural
property" due to spiritual, cultural and medicinal use to the Tribe. The Tribe was giving authorization to
proceed by the Tribal Council on January 23,2017. (The FSEIS released in December 2015 identifies
Kettle B as the stormwater pond for the proposed development).
Based on a phone conversation (5/15/17) with Gretchen Kaehler of Department of Archaeology and
Historic Preservation (DAHP), in order for PGST to pursue "Traditional Cultural Property" the Tribe
will need to show "tradition of use over time" and to pursue a "listing" the property owner's signature is
required. As of the date of the phone call with Gretchen and Michelle Farfan, no formal paper work has
been submitted to DAPH for review of "Traditional Cultural Property."
