County Ordered Curtailment of Operations Due }
To Inclement Weather Conditions }
WHEREAS, The Jefferson Board of Commissioners have established, by approval of the
Jefferson County Personal Administration Chapter 11, Section 17, a policy for emergency
closures during inclement weather: and
WHEREAS, this policy maintains that because many County services are of primary
importance during emergency conditions all employees should make every effort to report for
work on a timely basis, however, if conditions prevail that require the curtailment of County
operations for the safety and welfare of County employees, the Board may order the curtailment
of County operations for specific departments and facilities: and
WHEREAS, severe weather conditions may create treacherous conditions that place it in
the interest of the safety and welfare of citizens and employees to curtail certain County
operations, and
WHERAS, an excessive heat warning has been issued for Jefferson County forecasting
the County will continue to experience dangerously hot conditions, and
WHEREAS, the County Administrator may determine, in conjunction with department
heads and elected officials, it is in the interest of the safety and welfare of citizens and employees
to close some or all County operations at the Jefferson County Courthouse due to lack of air
conditioning, and to consider closing other County operations if necessary, early on Monday
June 28, 2021 and on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Jefferson County
Commissioners hereby declare that a state of emergency exists.
