HomeMy WebLinkAboutLTAC DRAFTM050421S MINUTES Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) Special Meeting Minutes May 4, 2021 – 1:00 p.m. Jefferson County Commissioners Chambers (Virtual Meeting) Members: Chair Heidi Eisenhour, Diana Smeland, Shelly Leavens, Larry McKeehan, Joe Alfano Staff: LTAC Clerk Adiel McKnight Chair Heidi Eisenhour called the meeting to order at the appointed time. Members Shelly Leavens and Diana Smeland participated in the meeting remotely. Member Joe Alfano and Larry McKeehan were absent. Also present was Quilcene Fair and Parade Association President Sharon Redmon. Approval of Special Meeting Minutes: Member Smeland moved to approve the Special Meeting Minutes of February 26, 2021 as presented. Member Leavens seconded the motion. The motion carried. Discussion and Potential Action re: 2021 Grant Funding Request Received After Deadline: The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) received a funding request for additional funds after the deadline of December 31, 2021 from the Quilcene Fair and Parade Association. The Committee discussed whether to accept the amendment, or deny it. The LTAC Committee agreed to hear the proposal. President Sharon Redmon presented the Quilcene Fair and Parade’s request. She gave a breakdown of their costs for future advertising and upgrades. Quilcene Fair and Parade has partnered with The Production Alliance for assistance in a robust website, web hosting, live streaming, advertising and support outreach. Funds will also be used for banners and poles placed around the community. Sharon noted the fair used some 2020 funds into 2021 for signage, but was unclear on the reimbursement. The fair board would like to participate in a weekend of events with the Oyster Race in Brinnon and The Worthington Manor for a dance night. After discussion, Chair Eisenhour moved to approve the $6,000 grant request for Quilcene Fair and Parade. Member Smeland seconded the motion. Motion carried. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval. Discussion and Potential Action re: Future Agenda Items: Chair Eisenhour discussed holding the next meeting in August, date to be determined, to work on creating a budget and an outline of LTAC due dates.
