Designs, writes and supervises nursing practices, procedures, and agency protocols. Coordinates and evaluates nursing programs. Performs the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Determine applications of department policies both in writing and action. Is expert in field and resource to the department in their specialty area. Coordinates and plans program services. Determines, after community assessment,which programs are needed. Plans through interagency and community collaboration how to begin program, do the outreach, schedule and conduct the provision of services. Educates and instructs individuals and groups of all ages in health promotion activities, including but not limited to immunization, family planning, communicable diseases, hygiene, sexually transmitted disease, tuberculosis, perinatal care of mother and newborns. Recognize and diagnose individuals at risk or experiencing communicable disease outbreaks, mental health crisis, child abuse, or drug and alcohol abuse.Not only refers patients to appropriate community agencies and facilitates the linkage process but provides assurance and policy development if the linkages are incomplete. Provides complex psychiatric evaluation of at risk client and begin case plan that outlines roles for each team member towards a comprehensive client plan. Responsible for continuing education via workshops, current literature and resources in order to act as a community resource. Attends conferences, professional seminars and regular staff meetings as required for professional development. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position has no supervisory responsibilities, but is a "lead" position in the division of assignment. Lead responsibilities include assisting the Department Head and/or Supervisor with interviewing, training, planning, assigning and directing work. Lead positions also provide input for performance appraisals and assist in addressing complaints and resolving problems. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A.)or equivalent in Mental Health Counseling, and/or Public Health, Nursing Science or other related health field; and two(2)years of Public Health Nursing experience in an agency providing generalized Public Health services, or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals,professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,percentages,ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of ACCESS Database software; EXPLORER Internet software; EXCEL Spreadsheet software and WORD Word Processing software. OTHER KNOWLEDGE,SKILS AND ABILITIES Ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds and lifestyles in a non judgmental and professional manner, including knowledge and ability to discuss explicit sexual behaviors and drug use practices. Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with staff, community physicians and a variety of groups and agencies. Abilityto maintain confidentialityof sensitive information. Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers. Valid Washington State Driver's License.
