Dear Jefferson County LTAC,
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to apply for a second round of funding.
We would like to respectfully request $14000.00 to be applied towards visitor
center staffing at the Forks Visitor Information Center, and to be included in the
OPTC Fall Campaign for bus ads and television spots. We would have applied
for these funds in 2020 for 2021 funding, but without knowing how things would
unfold with lodging tax funds and tourism travel, we applied for partial funding
originally.
We have not tallied July yet, but May and June have been the third busiest in our
history. Attached is our visitor statistics for your review. 2010 was our busiest,
followed by 2009. This year is third. We anticipate August — October being
incredibly busy as well. Saturday, July 240 set a recent record with 505 visitors
signing our guest book. Many of these travelers are headed to the Hoh
Rainforest, and Kalaloch beaches.
The OPTC Fall Campaign includes bus ads in the Portland market and television
commercials on KOMO directed towards the Seattle/Tacoma market. A $5000.00
buy in would include Western Jefferson County in the Fall 2021 campaign. The
Forks Chamber of Commerce paid to be in the spots for Fall 20201Spring 2021,
which included the rain forest.
In summary, we hope to secure additional funding so that we can continue to
help visitors traveling to this area, along with providing information for future
travel plans via phone, email and in person along with advertising to bring more
people here in the "value" season.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
