HomeMy WebLinkAboutM120291 .. ~ ~ MINUTES WEEK OF DECEMBER 2, 1991 The meeting was called to order by Chairman Larry W. Dennison at the appointed time. Commissioner B. G.Brown and Commissioner Richard E. Wojt were both present for the Commissioners' Briefmg Session with Community Services Director David Goldsmith. Budsæet Revenue Subcommittee re: Update on 1992 Revenue Proiections: Budget Manager Gary Rowe reported that the Revenue subcommittee (Treasurer TIa Mikkelsen, Community Services Director David Goldsmith and Assessor Jack Westerman) of the Budget Committee recommend that the 1992 revenues be reduced by $200,000. This reduction is necessary because of reduced estimated sales tax revenues as projected by the State Department of Revenue and loss of investment interest since the amount of funds to invest will be lower and are lower interest rates on investments. The Board then interviewed an applicant seeking appointment to the vacant position on the Civil Service Commission for the Sheriff's Department. BUSINESS FROM COUNTY DEPARTMENTS FACllJTIES MANAGEMENT CONTRACT AMENDMENT re: Architectural Services for Phase IV of the Courthouse Renovation: Desisæn New Cupola. Revise Structural SUPDort for Clock\BeU Tower: Duarte Bryant Architecture: Architectural Projects Inspector Frank Hall presented a contract amendment for the roofing project architectural services which were not part of the original project. The additional items are for the design of a new cupola and design of structural support for the Bell Tower. The discussion turned to the way the structural support for the Clock\Bell Tower will be designed and the cost of the design of the cupola. The cupola itself is estimated to cost an additional $40,000 to install. The cupola is being considered because of its architectural impact on the building. There was no knowledge of the cupola when the original roof design was started, Frank Hall added. The only information on it is from old photographs. The reproduction costs were then discussed. Frank Hall noted that reproduction costs are a reimbursable item under the original contract. Commissioner Brown moved to approve the contract amendment for the design of the structural support for the Clock\Bell Tower and to delete the cupola from this amendment. Commissioner Wojt seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
