Rachel Nathanso reviewed the environmental checklist and outlined
the fourteen mi igati e measures suggested by the planning staff and
explained that 'f a S PA determinatfon was made today that additional
mitigation may e req ired after th~ Health Department, Port of Port
Townsend and th Public Works Deparqment have a chance to r view the
proposal. '
Mrs. Udd, one of the p oject proponents, inquired about meas re Number 7
which requires atural vegetative buffers of a certain widt along the
boundaries. Sh note that the 75 ~oot buffer along the hi hway is nec-
essary for nois as w 11 as visually, but the other buffers which are a
minimum of 50 f et wo ld mean that alot of property would h ve to be given
up when it hasn't eve been determined if it will be needed for the noise.
She also asked .f this buffer could .be put to any other use.
The Comprehensi Pia, Rachel Nathanson explained is conce ned about the
visual as well noise impact of a .project.TIClt was. determ'ned at a
later date that buffer of a parti~ular width was not requ'red the
project propone t could ask the Board for a change in the m'tigation.
The widths sugg sted in measure number 7 were suggested by he Planning
Department staf .
