I Mr. Brown presented a written statement and personally assured the Board that his in field measurements, when us'ed in the fo_mula for a bluff setback, indicate a 37.8 foot setback from the bluff is required~ The nearest point of his proposed house is '40 feet froml the bluff. . i Since the planning department figures were done fro. a drawing and Mr. Brown's were done. with actual "in field" measurements, Commissioner Brown moved to use Mr. Brown's measurements, iwhich means f:hat a variance is not required. Commissioner Pitts seconded the moti'n. Unanimous. Brad Newell re: Airport Site Selection: M . Newell explained that he is a former commercial and military airline pilot who lives in Port Ludlow. He also publishes his opinion on avia ion matters in aviation journals. . , He advised that theparalell runway sol'ution does n t deal with the crosswind situation at the present airport and itip his opinion that the existing airport location will never be a satis.actory airport without the expenditure of millions of dollars.1 He feels 0' k Bay Ridge is the best site in the county. The Board advised Mr. Newell that thei~ job is on land use criteria.
