ORDINANCE NO. 04-0405-04
Increasing the Fee for Checks Returned }
To County Offices from $15.00 to }
$30.00. }
WHEREAS, Jefferson County adopted Ordinance No. 1-84 which imposed a fee of
$10.00 for checks returned to County Offices and Ordinance No. 11-1116-92 increased the fee
to $15.00, and
WHEREAS, we have reviewed the fee for this process and determined that the costs to
reprocess these non-negotiable checks have increased and local banks1 other businesses and
counties are now charging between $25.00 and $40.00 for returned checks1 and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Jefferson County that the following sections
Section 2. AUTHORIZATION.
The offices of Jefferson County are hereby authorized to make a charge of thirty dollars
($30.00) whenever it is necessary to reprocess a non-negotiable check.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE
The Ordinance shall take effect May 1, 2004.
This notice amends the noted sections of Ordinance No. 1-84 and repeals and replaces
