The roof is currently skip sheeted which leaves large gaps in between boards that allows the shingle to sag and not be evenly supported. ANALYSIS: Adding 3/8 CDX plywood to the entire South facing roofline will tie current skip sheeting together adding shear strength. By adding plywood,the skip sheeting will be covered allowing for an even and solid material for the shingles to be mounted. Addition of plywood is also required to maintain manufactures warranty of the shingles. FISCAL IMPACT: Change order of $10,184 Original Contract $28,463 New Contract Total $38,647 RECOMMENDATION: I recommend the approval of this change order REVIEWED BY: - 4/ Mark McCaule terim County Admini r Dat CENTRAL SERVICES CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT CHANGE ORDER REQUEST Central Services, with the approval of the Board of County Commissioners, entered into a contract with ACI Construction to replace the Gardiner Community Center roof. The approved contract amount was $28,463 and was based on conditions known at the time. Once work commenced it was discovered that there was no plywood sub-sheeting on the south facing side of the roof. Plywood sub-sheeting for the south facing portion of the roof needs to be added to the contract to reinforce the roof and add shear strength. This will also provide a solid foundation on which to anchor the roof shingle which is required to maintain the manufacturer's warranty for the shingle. The additional cost for the plywood sub-sheeting is $10,184, per the attached invoice, which brings the total cost of the project to $38,647. The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners hereby approves the change order request above with ACI Construction for the Gardiner Community Center re-roofing project in the amount of$10,184 for a total contract cost of$38,647.
