In the Matter of Establishing an
Emergency Fund for the Public
Works Department

RESOLUTION NO 07-03
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Public Works Department is responsible for
responding to emergency events impacting the County's transportation system; and,
WHEREAS, in the event of an emergency situation, the operating funds of the
Public works Department are utilized to mobilize and respond to the emergency; and,
WHEREAS, it is desirous to maintain, as much as practicable, the established
maintenance and construction schedule independent of emergency situations.; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners
that it is in the best interest of Jefferson County that a restricted emergency fund be established
by the Jefferson County Treasurer, benefiting the Public Works Department, for the expressed
purpose of having adequate funding to respond to emergency situations.
BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED that said fund may only be accessed after the
Board of Commissioners has entered into a Declaration of Emergency pursuant to Chapter
36.40.180 Revised Code of Washington.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners shall direct funds
to be placed into said emergency fund as they deem appropriate and prudent given other demands
for the expenditure of funds and that the interest earned from the monies invested by the
Jefferson County Treasurer from this fund shall be deposited to the fund.
