Use of Community Centers }
in an Emergency }
RESOLUTION NO. OR-Ol
WHEREAS, the Revised Code of Washington, Chapter 38.52 directs and authorizes the
use of public facilities, services, personnel, and equipment as needed to combat an emergency;
and
WHEREAS, the community centers are an identifiable gathering place and may be
suitable as a provisional haven for persons in need, and a place for the dissemination of
emergency public information in the event of a disaster; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable that the Jefferson County community centers be made
available as a part of the Countywide disaster response and recovery program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, that the designated governing body of each
of the community centers make these facilities available in times of disaster as mobilization
centers, so much as emergency use does not acutely interfere with existing services essential to
health and welfare.
IT IS FURTHER RESOL VED, that the governing body of each community center be
encouraged to actively support and take part in the operation of their facilities as temporary
mobilization centers in a disaster, and cooperate with the Department of Emergency
Management in planning for such use.
