WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works has received a petition to name a private
road Sharons Way, or Sharons Lane, or Sharons Road as shown on attached Exhibit "A",
pursuant to Jefferson County 911 Ordinance Number 2-0401-91 and;
WHEREAS, the petitioner is a property owner on this road, and;
WHEREAS, the petitioner wishes to establish this road name to allow for addressing
along the road and eliminate confusion due to similar road names as required by the Jefferson
County 911 Emergency Locator System Ordinance and;
WHEREAS, research has shown that there are no addresses assigned on this milepost
number at this time that will be affected by establishing the road name as shown on attached
Exhibit "B";
WHEREAS, notification was sent to interested parties and;
WHEREAS, a response was received by Jefferson County Fire District #2 as shown on
attached Exhibit "C" and;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the road be named Sharons Way.

Dear Board of County Commissioners:
RE: Road name petition for Sharon McClain
I would like to request that the Board of County Commissioners consider an ordinance or
addendum to the process of naming a roadway within the County.
I would like to see the applicant be required to purchase / pay in advance for an road sign
and have it up before ftre numbers or addresses are assigned to the property parcels. The
way it is cUlTently working, many of the road signs are never properly installed. This
creates major problems when responding to emergencies.
We also are having problems with the quality of the roads being given names. We should
have a minimum standard even for private driveways.
Jefferson County Fire District # 2 does not have a problem with the petition submitted by
applicant.
