Resource Committee }
RESOLUTION NO. 17-01
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners recognized the need to
promote local protection and restoration of the County's marine resource by supporting research
and education and therefore adopted Resolution No, 45-99 establishing the Jefferson County
Marine Resources Committee; and,
WHEREAS, Exhibit A of Resolution No, 45-99 identifies the makeup of the
Committee membership as 13 voting members andt'~on-voting members to be selected by the
Board of County Commissioners. 6 of the 13 voting members are to be citizens, with 2 to be
from each Commissioner District; and,
WHEREAS, over the course of the Committee's operations there have been
vacancies in the citizen positions that represent Commissioner Districts, and the applicants for
the positions have not lived in the appropriate District.
NOW; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, that the Board of Jefferson County
Commissioners, in order to facilitate appointments to fill vacancies on the Marine Resource
Committee with willing volunteers, hereby adopt the attached revision to the portion of Exhibit
A entitled "Membership of the Marine Resource Committee" as provi~ the attacþed.

REVISED PORTION OF EXHIBIT A
To Resolution No. 45-99
Membership of the Marine Resource Committee:
There shall be thirteen (13) voting members and three (3) non-voting members of the MRC,
selected by the Board of County Commissioners to ensure that the membership of the Committee
is balanced and representative,
The voting members shall be:
· One (1) member representing Commercial interests.
· One (1) member representing Environmental or Conservation interests.
· One (1) member representing Recreation interests.
· One (1) member representing Marine Science Practitioners, Educators or Researchers
· One (1) member representing Tribes.
· Two (2) members representing local government
· Six (6) members representing Citizens (2 representatives nominated by each
Commissioner)
The non-voting members shall be:
· One (1) member of the Board of County Commissioners.
· One (1) member representing the V.S, Navy.
· One (1) member representing the Port of Port Townsend
