STATE OF WASHINGTON County of Jefferson IN THE MATTER OF AMENDING } AND REPLACING THE SALARY } SYSTEM FOR FLSA EXEMPT } MANAGEMENT AND PROFESSIONAL } EMPLOYEES } RESOLUTION NO. 33-0l WHEREAS, management and professional employees of Jefferson County are exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and are not represented by a recognized bargaining unit; and, WHEREAS, it is desirable to have a uniform system to fairly classify these FLSA and Union exempt positions and to provide for equitable compensation for said positions; and, WHEREAS, a uniform compensation system was adopted for these employees by passage of Resolution 8-96 on January 8, 1996; and, WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners commissioned a review of the compensation structure with certain benchmark Counties to determine equity and competitiveness in the compensation structure; and WHEREAS, as a result of this study certain modifications to the compensation system were recommended ( see Jefferson County Salary and Pay Practices Survey-Final Report dated March 2001); and WHEREAS, after careful review of the recommendations presented and the reoccurring personnel costs associated with the recommendation the Board has determined that adjustments to the compensation system are warranted and sustainable within budgetary constraints, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, that the compensation system for exempt personnel identified in Resolution 8-96 and Resolution 61-97 are hereby repealed and replaced by Exhibit A, Revised 2001 Salary Structure, and Exhibit B, Adjusted Individual Grade and Step, Year 2001. - Resolution No. 33-0::te: Salary System for FLSA Exempt Employees BE IT FURTHER RESOL VED, that said adjustments are to proceed according to the Implementation Schedule and Conditions found in Exhibit C. Effective January 1, 2001 the Adjusted Individual Grade and Step System shall be implemented and applied to all positions for which an incumbent exists. Thereafter the Adjusted Grade and Step System shall be applied to all positions as they are filled through the recruitment or promotion process, 2. Following January 1,2001 employees shall move through their normal Step progression, except as provided for in 5 below. 3. Beginning July 1, 2001, the Salary Structure will be adjusted by 2% as a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), 4. Beginning July 1, 2001, each employee subject to this compensation system shall have the equivalent of ten (10%) percent of their monthly health and welfare premium charges deducted from their monthly salary. 5. For the positions of Deputy Prosecutor I, II, and III only. a. Individuals in these positions will be placed on the salary structure on their anniversary date beginning in the year 2002, as follows: David Alverez Jill Landis Michael Hass Theodore Cropley Deputy Prosecuting Attorney III Deputy Prosecuting Attorney III Deputy Prosecuting Attorney II Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I Grade 9 Step 6 Grade 9 Step 3 Grade 7 Step 5 Grade 6 Step 4 b. Any COLA adjustment to the Salary Structure in year 2002 will be applied in an equal amount to the above referenced individual salaries until these individuals are placed on the Salary Structure as provided above. c, Following placement on the structure, these positions will continue along in the normal Step progression.
