Public Comment Concerning Establishing Temporary Homeless Facilities:
In order to maximize the efforts of the countless individuals putting work into creating humane transitional housing here
in Jefferson County, including yourselves on this Task Force, please consider amending the existing ordinances restricting
a transitional village to a specific duration. Time limits on the village itself are unhelpful. Key provisions that limit total
duration of such a village like Peter’s Place or Pat’s Place are not suited for the needs of our County, nor do they align
with the inspiring momentum of our community stepping up to literally build space for some of the most vulnerable
among us. While we can expect pushback on allowing more permanent managed village sites, we should all realize that
the fundamental issue of housing inequality is worsening by the day in Jefferson County, and that we need to be
creating solutions that will serve us well into our future. Thank you to the Task Force for taking on this necessary work.
