HomeMy WebLinkAboutM100821S - County Administroator Canidate Interviews 8z,So1 ,4� G ,47 MINUTES Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Special Meeting — Thursday, October 8, 2021, 2:00 p.m. County Administrator Candidate Interviews Jefferson County Courthouse—Commissioners' Chambers 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA (Virtual) CALL TO ORDER: Chair Kate Dean called the meetingto order in the presence of Commissioner Greg Brotherton and Commissioner Heidi Eisenhour. The Board and staff participated in the meeting remotely. PRESENTATIONS BY COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR CANDIDATES: The following County Administrator Candidates each gave a 10-minute presentation and answered questions posed by the Board and the public in attendance: • Martin Casey • Richard Kuhns • Ethan Raup EXECUTIVE SESSION: An Executive Session was scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Chair Dean announced that the Executive Session will be held from 3:34 p.m. to 4:04 p.m. to evaluate the qualifications of applicants for public employment, exemption RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) as outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act. Chair Dean announced that the Board will be extending the Executive Session from 4:06 p.m. to 4:16 p.m. The Board concluded the Executive Session and resumed the regular meeting at 4:17 p.m. EXECUTIVE SESSION: An Executive Session was scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Chair Dean announced that the Executive Session will be held from 4:19 p.m. to 4:48 p.m. to evaluate the qualifications of applicants for public employment, exemption RCW 42.30.110(1)(g) as outlined in the Open Public Meetings Act. The Board concluded the Executive Session and resumed the regular meeting at 4:48 p.m. DISCUSSION re: REVIEW of APPLICANTS for the COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR POSITION: The Board and Interim County Administrator Mark McCauley discussed the relative merits of each applicant. After discussion, Commissioner Brotherton moved to authorize staff to have Prothman, our recruiter, begin negotiations with Ethan Raup for the County Administrator position, and that contract would come before the Commissioners in public session for a vote in the future if we're successful.
