Statement of Issue:
Bid opening at 10:30 a.m. or shortly thereafter for construction of the SR
116 and Cedar Avenue Pedestrian-Bike Improvements Project, Project No.
1802057.
Analysis/Strategic Goals/Pro's Ft Cons:
A Call for Bids was issued by the Jefferson County Board of County
Commissioners on October 4, 2021. This project is included in the 2021-
2026 Transportation Improvement Program and the Annual Construction
Program as Item No. 3. The goal of this project is to improve pedestrian and
bicycle safety along Cedar Ave. between SR 116 and Hayden Street, provide
a multi-use path for students from Cedar Ave. to Chimacum Creek Primary
School, provide a pedestrian sidewalk from Cedar Ave. to the Jefferson
County Regional Library, and to provide 2 pedestrian activated Rectangular
Rapid Flashing Beacons at the school entrance on SR 116.
Fiscal Impact/Cost Benefit Analysis:
Construction for this project is funded with WSDOT Safe Route to School
Program funds and County Road Funds. The Engineer's Estimate for
construction is $526,130.47.
Recommendation: The Board is requested to witness the public bid opening and direct Public
Works to review the bids and make a recommendation for award at a later
date.
